our little secret

Monte Azul is the main house at the centre of the Estúdio Yucca project, owned and created by dancer Barbara Ramos and artist Tom Leamon. The house is nestled within private mature gardens, neighbouring art and dance studios with private access to the Ria Formosa and beach just a short walk away.

A home from home, the interior itself is a spacious, carefully curated environment, sympathetically designed with creativity and a connection to nature in mind. The house can sleep up to 8 guests comfortably in three double bedrooms and a communal space, with options for more guests if you would like to use our camping facilities . Exterior Dining

There are two main dining areas in the gardens.

One connected to the house under a cane shade,

and the other nestled under an old carob tree.

The interior of the house consists of two large communal

spaces, with bedrooms and bathrooms leading from these

rooms. Perfect for both socialising and intimate moments, the house has a cozy yet spacious feel to it.

The interior footprint of Monte Azul is approximately 200msq. The kitchen connects both communal areas with three double bedrooms and two bathrooms leading off from them.

In the centre of the house is a large multifunctional communal space with sofa area, second dining area, and extra sleeping space. The three double bedrooms and two bathrooms all lead off from this main space.

The extra sleeping space can consists of 3 single beds and one double bed, arranged for your needs, with fabric dividers.

The cost of the rental of Monte Azul depends on the time of year, length of your trip and the number of guests.

We have a 5 night minimum stay in peak season. Please email with specific dates and number of guests and we will promptly reply with availability and pricing.

CACHEA VELHA

Locally

20 minutes walk along the Ria from the house will get you to the town of Cabanas De Tavira, with many restaurants (Including the muti-award wining Noelia), bars and a couple of small super markets. In the opposite direction you will find yourself at the magical Cacela Velha, one of the most picturesque beaches in the algarve.

Our closest smaller city is the Historical Tavira, just a 4km car journey away.

We live close by to Monte Azul with our 3 dogs. Our cat and 8 chickens live around the studio. The local area is full of many diverse forms of wildlife. The Ria Formosa itself is a nature reserve, one of the best places in the world for birdwatching.

art & dance

We consider ESTÚDIO YUCCA as a multi-purpose art space. An embryo project, living on

experiments and sustained acts to achieve a sense of art, community and creativity. Just

meters from the north atlantic ocean in the eastern point of the Algarve, Portugal, this

space first originated as a pottery studio creating traditional Portuguese handmade tiles.

We want to create a magical moment for our guests at Monte Azul. With that in mind we have put together a collection of experiences you can choose to enjoy whilst staying with us.

In the gardens on Monte Azul making up part of the Estúdio Yucca creative hub is a 90msq wooden sprung outdoor dance floor.

The dance floor can be rented by guests. Surrounding the dance floor is a sound system, consisting of eight speakers with easy bluetooth connection.

The dance floor can be requested for private yoga classes or dance movement classes with our community of dance and wellbeing coaches. prices on demand. For more information please email estudio.yucca@gmail.com.

Dining experience

As part of an ongoing project with Estúdio Yucca and chef Joe Devine, Monte Azul can now offer bespoke culinary and experience nights. This three course meal with matched wine will take place in numerous theatrically curated locations around the local area.

Prices begin at 90 Euros per person

This price is inclusive of everything necessary for a very memorable night and can be curated as an event for between 6 - 10 guests.

We focus on creativity, art, exploration, creation, nature immersion, dance, somatics, land art, silence, contact improvisation, music and unknown worlds yet to be discovered.
